Amazon uses wind power to supply its datacentres

I have long been a satisfied user of Amazon, both as a reader and self-published writer.

However, Amazon does not only sell books and other things. They are also a provider of server and cloud storage space via Amazon Web Services.

Operating servers and datacentres, particularly on as massive a scale as Amazon does, also requires a lot of power. Amazon has committed itself to powering these datacentres via renewable energy with a longterm goal of 100% renewable energy.

In order to achieve that goal, Amazon has now announced that they will build a wind farm in Indiana, which will eventually supply Amazon’s datacentres with 500000 megawatt hours per year.
